Act Sports to unveil new Juventa hybrid turf at SALTEX

Kruisem, 25 October, 2024 – On Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 October, Europe's leading grounds management show SALTEX returns to the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK. Act Sports, the sports brand of Beaulieu International Group, will use this platform to officially debut its new, patented hybrid system for football and rugby clubs. Juventa brings the best of two worlds, combining the superior durability, player comfort, and player safety of woven turf with the performance (ball roll & bounce) and player-surface interaction of natural grass.
 

The best of two worlds

Modern football and rugby clubs want a pitch that combines the unique player experience of natural grass with the consistency of sports turf. "With Juventa, we deliver exactly that," explains Friso van den Berg, Commercial Director at Act Sports. "The player experience is identical to that of natural grass. Juventa boasts player performance through natural ball bounce & roll, and minimizes the risk of injuries through the intuitive player-surface interaction." 

"Moreover, it is also extremely durable. The system allows for maximum root penetration through the carpet backing, ensuring it is securely anchored to the sub-base. The natural grass blades grow between the yarns, creating a strong, resilient surface with long lifetime that remains playable even in difficult conditions. Additionally, maintenance is no different from that of natural grass, and if any damage occurs, only the affected areas need to be replaced."
 

Patented technology

Juventa hybrid turf is made with Act Sports' patented woven technology. The polyethylene (PE) yarns are woven directly into the backing, eliminating the need for a latex or polyurethane backing. As a result, the final product is 100% monomaterial and completely recyclable. The woven carpet is laid on a level and consolidated sub-base and infilled with a rootzone mix to stimulate natural grass growth.

In addition to on-site installation, clubs can also opt for a lay-and-play approach. In this case, the pitch is grown in a controlled environment at a specialized nursery. After harvesting, the pitch is transported to the stadium and laid as a whole. And the best part: it is ready for play within 7 days.

With the launch of Juventa at SALTEX, Act Sports is positioning itself as a top contender in the market for premium football and rugby surfaces. "Our goal is to become the first choice of clubs, players, and groundskeepers," says van den Berg.
